Statewide Leadership Team Member of the Month: Hayli Manning

Where are you from?
I am from the tiny town of Holbrook and I’ve lived here since I was three years old! It’s right near Quincy and
Braintree.

How long have you been on the Statewide Leadership Team?
I have been on the Statewide Leadership Team since last August!

What is your favorite food?
This is a great question because I love food! I think my favorite category of food is fruit, and my favorite fruit are
strawberries. They are so sweet!

What made you want to join The 84 Movement? How did you first learn about The 84?
I wanted to join The 84 Movement initially because I learned that I could miss a day of school for Kick Butts Day
and hang out with all my friends. Isn’t that funny? Who knew that my version of a skip day could spark my lifelong
passion for public health? After seeing the youth from the Statewide Leadership Team talk that year I felted moved.
This story always makes me smile, because the Statewide Leaders of 2016 really impacted the way I view the tobacco
industry, and now I’m proud to be one of the people who stand up on stage at Kick Butts Day and help other youth feel empowered to make change too!

What is your favorite part about being on the Statewide Leadership Team?
My favorite part of being on the Statewide Leadership Team? How could I name just one? I love absolutely
everything! I have made amazing friends since joining, improved on my public speaking skills, and learned so much
about public health. Joining the team has truly changed my life for the better, forever.

What is one thing you HAVE to have in your backpack at all times?
I make sure to always bring headphones and a functioning pen with me wherever I go! (Just in case)

What is one of the funniest moments you have had working with the Statewide Leadership Team?
I remember when we went rock climbing as a team building exercise. That whole day I couldn’t stop laughing!

What is one message you have for youth about their role in tobacco control?
Just remember that you have a voice, even if you don’t know it yet! Stand up and make your voice heard!
