Janice Tang and Millane Mosqueda, Statewide Leadership Team members for The 84 recently attended the CADCA (Community Anti Drug Coalitions of America) conference in Orlando, Florida.
They joined over 500 young leaders from across the country to examine substance abuse issues, identify a local issue, and develop an action plan to address the issue. Problems with vaping and marijuana use were prominent topics.
Both girls are rising juniors at Melrose High School, and were selected to attend the week long conference, at least in part, due to their involvement in the “84 Movement” as leaders.
I believe that we were the only Massachusetts contingent at the conference which drew over 2000 people from 40 states. “We Learned a lot at this event, mainly about how to be a leader and what steps we have to take to achieve our goals for our community,” Janice said of the event.
