What is your role with The 84 Movement? I’m the director!
Where are you from? I’m from Illinois! I love visiting it but definitely consider Boston to be home now.
What is your go-to exercise song? “The Chase”– Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike
What does the Statewide Leadership Team know you for? Getting everyone to do wall-sits, squats, and planks before 84 events. It’s a great way to get amped!
What’s your favorite 84 team memory? Hmmm… I have so many! From this year, it was definitely my birthday where Natalie was outside my house with a gift basket of all of my favorite things. The rest of the team was on Zoom (#2020) and all wrote me nice notes, and the Statewide Leadership Team made me a video of them singing to Backstreet Boys. It was epic!
How have you changed because of The 84? Luckily working with The 84 has helped me see over the years that there are a LOT of factors that contribute to people smoking; it’s not their fault for starting. And systemic racism plays a HUGE part in this. I feel grateful that I get to unpack my white privilege as part of my job, and try not to take that for granted.
What is one thing that people who know you well all know about you? I speak Spanish and Italian. Italian I just learned out of necessity with family members so it’s definitely nowhere near perfect, but we understand each other for sure!
What’s one thing you hope youth in The 84 remember this year? I hope they remember that this is temporary, like everything. This too shall pass, and the only thing we can do in the meantime is try to be positive and focus on our own self-love.
