Staff Feature of the Month: Tisha Hood!
Where are you from?
The land of big hair, big personalities, and Big Tex—aka Dallas, TX. But I am rooted from the Caribbean where I was born.
What is your favorite food?
Pizza. Give me all the coal-fired, thin crust, margherita pizza.
What is your role with The 84 Movement?
Program Coordinator supporting program facilitation and community engagement.
How did you first learn about The 84?
Carly Caminiti. The rest, as they say, is history.
What is your favorite part about working with The 84?
Witnessing youth use their agency to ignite (pun intended) healthy changes in their communities. Hearing their stories, seeing their leadership, and supporting their growth is what I enjoy most about being a part of The 84 team.
What is one thing you HAVE to have on your desk at all times?
My notepad and pen. It’s often where I jot notes or ideas that pop into my head and I need a place to park them so I don’t forget them.
What is one of the funniest moments you have had in the office?
When I kept mishearing everyone on the team reference “an employee named ‘Arnie’” when in fact it is a department called R&E.
What is one message you have for youth about their role in tobacco control?
You are more powerful than you know. The greatest tool you have is your voice. What you are doing today for tobacco prevention may not reap benefits tomorrow but will harvest a healthier future for everyone. And for this, we thank you.
