What is your role with The 84 Movement?
I am a Program Associate and I do all sorts of things! Most importantly, I work with our Statewide Leadership Team, together we develop and host workshops using a youth-led equity led that emphasizes racial justice.
Where are you from?
What a question! My family is originally Palestinian with roots in Syria, I was born in Boston but spent much of my formative years in different parts of Saudi Arabia, the United States, and Canada.
What is your go-to exercise song?
Roast me but I have to be honest that it is Last Resort by Papa Roach
What does the Statewide Leadership Team know you for?
That the greatest love of my life is my cat <3
What’s your favorite 84 team memory?
For my birthday, the entire team surprised me with an amazing nerd-themed trivia that I absolutely crushed them at. They followed that up with wonderful affirmations. I felt so seen and appreciated.
How have you changed because of The 84?
My understanding of the Tobacco Industry’s role in perpetuating and furthering inequitable health outcomes has been transformative in my racial justice work.
What is one thing that people who know you well all know about you?
I am a HUGE Trekkie!
What’s one thing you hope youth in The 84 remember this year?
That their voices hold more power than they can even imagine.
