What is your favorite after school snack?
I love pistachios! (Strange, I know, but I literally never get tired of them.)
What made you want to join the 84 movement?
I wanted to have the opportunity to do more advocacy work on a larger, statewide scale because youth tobacco prevention and social justice are things that I’m really passionate about and I want to make as much of an impact as possible! I was also seeking to meet other youth from different backgrounds than me since I love meeting new people and the community I live in is not very diverse.
What is your favorite part about being on the SLT?
I’ve been able to grow as a leader a tremendous amount during my time on the SLT. Everyone here is incredibly supportive, which makes this an environment where I feel comfortable pushing myself to try new things and develop new skills even when doing so intimidates me
What is one thing you HAVE to have in your backpack at all times?
My planner! I’ve always used a physical planner to write down my homework assignments and things on my to-do list, and I’m pretty sure I would completely lose track of my life without it
What is one of your favorite moments you have had working on the SLT?
I have really great memories of coming into Boston for our Kickoff Retreat this summer and getting to meet so many amazing people on the SLT and 84 staff; I couldn’t stop thinking how unreal it was that I’m able to be a part of a community like this that does such incredible work
What is one message you have for other youth about their role in tobacco control?
The fact that they’re choosing to be a part of this movement at all is extremely impressive, as most people don’t have the confidence or passion to do something like this. Even when things feel difficult or they don’t succeed as they’d hoped to, they’re still making a tremendous impact and a brave decision to advocate for a better community!
I want to be a writer!
