It was bright and early for youth from South Hadley who boarded the bus to Kick Butts day at 5:45 AM! But a lively greeting from the 84 awaited us when we arrived on Tremont Street in Boston for breakfast, tee-shirts, pictures and an opening rally at St. Paul’s Cathedral. After learning facts and chants, South Hadley students were proud to bear the banner at the head of the march across the Boston Common on a gorgeous Spring day. Inside the State House they participated in training, and then headed off to legislative meetings in the State House offices of Senator Stan Rosenberg and Representative John Scibak. The telling of personal stories about the increase in students using JUULs and other vape products was really eye-opening to the aides that the students spoke with. After lunch, we all met in the Great Hall of Flags in the State House to see the awards ceremony and hear speeches from Senators, Representatives and the Massachusetts State Doctor. We were very honored to receive an award nomination! It was a very exciting day!
