This Thursday at the Tobacco Free Mass meeting, our 84 Director Carly Caminiti won the Blake Cady Award! Named for Dr. Blake Cady, this award is given each year to an individual who works tirelessly to prevent tobacco use and nicotine addiction. Carly’s dedication to the 84 Movement has been imperative to the recent passage of the groundbreaking tobacco legislation the Governor just signed into law.
In her acceptance speech, Carly thanked her team and stressed that this legislation could not have been passed, and this award would not have been won without the tireless dedication, passion and empowerment of the 84 Youth. “Me?” she exclaimed when accepting the award, “What about the young people, can we give them the award? They’re the ones who have really carried this movement!” She also gave a shout out to the Statewide Leadership team, “they’ve just grown and grown into the amazing leaders that they are … I’m so proud of them.”
Carly shares this well-deserved award with the 84 Team and the many young people across the state who have been involved over the years. Congrats to Carly and The 84 Movement!
