On July 24th, MA Attorney General Maura Healey held a press conference where she announced that her office was opening up an investigation into JUUL Labs, Inc. The announcement comes at a crucial time when vaping is on the rise in school across the state. Youth are being directly targeted by vaping companies such as JUUL and many are taking a stand and fighting back.
At the conference, one of the guest speakers was Statewide Leadership Team member Shariel Joseph from Watertown Youth Coalition. Shariel shared her own experiences by stating that many youth she goes to school with are using these products. She also highlighted how many youth simply are not aware of the dangerous of vaping.
The AG’s Office has also sent cease and desist demands to many other online companies that sell vaping products. There is a clear dedication from the Attorney General to fight back against the vaping industry and to help educate youth, parents, and communities about the harmful affects these products have on the health of youth.
