Smoking has a large negative affect on sports performance. When you smoke your muscles are not able to get the oxygen they require during exercise. When you exercise your heart rate increases, and the more oxygen your muscles need. Smoking also narrows your blood vessels, this makes pumping blood throughout the body more difficult. Smoking holds you back from performing at your full potential, next time you think about smoking, think about the negative effects they have, especially if you’re an athlete.
