In 2009, two teens in Rockport wanted to start a group for teens that would promote teens making healthy decisions and having fun doing so! One of those teens wanted to start a SADD chapter, the other wanted to start a YMCA Leader's Club. So they smooshed the two together and came up with SALADD- Students & Leaders Against Destructive Decisions! The group influences & informs their peers about making healthy decisions, offers volunteer opportunities for teens, and seeks to better the image of teens in the community. Last year, SALADD hosted Rockport's first ever Prom Goes On Party, an anti-drinking Black Out Day, a Natural Beauty Day, a Costume Karaoke Party, and even went on a YMCA Teen Service Trip to New Orleans!
