This month, we’re bringing back an 84 classic for our activity of the month: Tobacco-Free Tuesday. This is an especially important activity as it is the key to unlocking the key to your Chapter’s toolkit. In order to receive your toolkit, you need to complete the activity and post to your Chapter page or the closed Facebook group about it.
Suggested Supplies: Orange clothing, posters, orange paper, and balloons to decorate and make your own posters for promoting the event. Be creative with what you’ve got!
STEP 1 – Develop an action plan. Discuss roles and assignments for members of your Chapter to complete the activity:
- Decide which Tuesday for your Chapter to host Tobacco-Free Tuesday
- Get permission for hanging posters and balloons around your school or community center
- Create your own creative posters to publicize your event
STEP 2 – Create a Facebook event. Share the event information on your Chapter’s Facebook page or your personal Facebook profile. Be sure to invite your friends!
STEP 3 – Inform your peers about Tobacco-Free Tuesday. After receiving permission to hang posters, put them up! You should also promote the event through word-of-mouth and social media (Facebook event, Twitter, Instagram). Use #TobaccoFreeTues and tag @The84Movement in your posts so we know to send your toolkit!
STEP 4 – Document and share the event. Throughout the day, take photos of students who are participating. Be sure to get their permission to share the photos on social media and then post them on your Chapter or personal social profiles. Again, don’t forget to post to The 84 Movement’s closed Facebook group or your Chapter page so we can send your toolkit!
