Film Shorts 2010!

Hey everyone!

I think it is time to get excited for something—The 84 Film Short Contest 2010!

So here’s how it works: basically all you have to do is come up with a 30 second film short that fits into one of three categories. You can do it by yourself or with other people, and you are allowed to enter multiple times, so if you have the time, why not do both? As long as you are a Massachusetts resident and are of high school age, (and you don’t use currently tobacco products, of course), you are eligible.

If you win, not only do you get featured on The 84, you will get to be on Channel 5, WCBV! Besides that, The 84 is giving out cash prizes. There are 11 chances for you to win—1 grand prize, 6 regional, 3 category winners (1 per category), and 1 viewer’s choice winner. It is wicked awesome.

While I refuse to spoil the surprise of my entry, I definitely have some ideas of other options. The three categories, as you may or may not know, are: Support a Quitter, Start a Revolution; Not so Glamorous; and Tobacco Does That?! There are so many possibilities!

For instance, for Support a Quitter, Start a Revolution, you could film a flash mob or interview a quitter/someone supporting a quitter. Or, for Tobacco Does That?!, you could show how mentally challenging it is to smoke, because you have to rearrange your entire life to fit in that cigarette.

For my personal favorite, however, Not so Glamorous has endless possibilities. From fake ads to spoofs, your message could be portrayed quite awesomely. Honestly, if someone could figure out how to spoof Twilight (I have an idea for it but lack of people does not allow that to be possible), you will probably be my hero!
