Last month, youth from across the country gathered in Washington, D.C. for the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids annual Youth Advocacy Symposium. Among them was Kayla Roy, a member of the North Attleboro 84 Chapter and the Statewide Leadership Team. Kayla spent the week partaking in trainings and practicing how to speak with legislators about the effects of tobacco products that are not yet regulated by the FDA and how that impacts the lives of youth.
“We know the effects. We don’t need another generation addicted to tobacco,” Roy said. During her time in D.C., she met with many different legislators or members of their staff including U.S. Rep. Joseph Kennedy III, D-Brookline.

Congratulations, Kayla! Thank you for being such a great example for how youth voices can really make change happen.
